Research overview
Kevin is an incoming MASc student interested in high-speed analog-to-digital converters, with an intended focus on time-interleaved SAR architectures.
This direction extends MOSAIC’s converter program into systems where sampling timing, channel mismatch, input bandwidth, kickback, calibration, and implementation parasitics interact. A successful design must make several converter channels behave like one coherent high-rate instrument.
Questions the project may address
- How architecture and channel count trade sampling rate against complexity
- Which mismatch mechanisms dominate the intended operating region
- How timing, bandwidth, kickback, and calibration should be modelled together
- What observables reveal that calibration or operating assumptions are no longer valid
- How schematic, layout, digital support, and measurement should be co-designed
Current direction
The final thesis wording and detailed converter architecture will be established as Kevin begins the program. This profile will grow with his coursework, design decisions, simulations, implementation milestones, and results.
