Work-Integrated Learning

Summer Co-op Context

CO-OP work terms are 4 months in duration and occur during the summer term. Summer participation may complement the stream pathway, subject to normal co-op and employer processes.

Year 1 Summer

Students may pursue an initial summer co-op opportunity through the standard co-op process.

Year 2 Summer

Students may seek summer work aligned with electronics, photonics, testing, or related areas.

Year 3 Summer

Students may pursue more specialized summer roles that build on upper-year project and elective work.

What This Page Means

  • Summer co-op may complement the stream pathway
  • Participation follows normal co-op eligibility and employer hiring processes
  • The website does not imply guaranteed placements or a separate summer curriculum

Planning Notes

  • Use advising to connect course choices and project topics to likely summer roles
  • Plan early if target roles depend on specific upper-year electives
  • Treat summer participation as complementary rather than mandatory for the stream pathway

Scope

The current manual frames summer participation conservatively. The stream pathway itself is defined by the degree curriculum and advising structure; summer co-op remains subject to standard co-op and employer processes.
